CBD and Coffee? Yes or No?

This seems to be a very touchy subject.  While doing the research, there are so many articles to be read.  Coffee is an “upper”. It helps to get you going in the morning and may even lift your mood.  CBD has been known to help you get going in the morning by helping with the inflammation you may have in your body.

CBD – What is it?

CBD is one of the many compounds known as cannabinoids, found in the Cannabis Plant.  CBD was discovered in 1940 and initially was thought not to be a pharmaceutically active.  People confuse Cannabinoids with Marijuana and vice versa. CBD has minimal traces of THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol), and does not have the mind altering effects (feeling high); whereas Marijuana has both CBD and THC.  The THC is what causes the mind altering (also known as feeling high) when it is broken down by heat and introduced to the body.

Coffee – What is it?

Silly question, right?  Well did you know that the coffee bean is not actually a bean?  It is a seed from the berries from the Coffea plant. We take that seed and grind it up so that we can brew it.  Coffee has a stimulating effect on humans. Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world today. According to studies, people that drink 2 – 4 cups of coffee daily are at a lower risk of a stroke.

What happens when you infuse your Coffee with CBD?

This relationship duo is starting to spread its wings.  Coffee and CBD go together better than a spoonful of peanut butter and chocolate syrup poured on top.  Are you ready to have some CBD infused coffee in the morning?

There are several reasons to infuse your coffee with CBD:

  • CBD helps to ease anxiety.  Some people, even the veteran coffee drinker, will get the jitters after having 1 or 2 more cups of coffee when they should have been done after their 3 or 4 cups.  Because CBD helps to ease anxiety, adding a little bit to your coffee will help do away with the jitters. Caffeine and CBD both interact with adenosine, they have opposite effects. Caffeine disrupts your body from receiving the sedative effects of adenosine, while CBD responds by increasing the amount calming adenosine in our bodies.
  • CBD boosts your mood and can give you energy.  So adding a little CBD to your morning coffee, you won’t need to order a larger coffee, or get an extra cup at the office.  The mood altering effects of CBD and coffee, on their own, increases the serotonin in your body, which in turn helps your mood to be more positive and uplifting.  Combining coffee and CBD in the morning sounds like a great way to start the day!
  • CBD and coffee are both awesome antioxidants!  Coffee is considered to be one of the biggest sources of antioxidants.  This protects our cells and DNA from damage and helps us to promote a healthier life.  CBD is also a powerful antioxidant! CBD helps the after affects of a major brain injury or stroke.
