Nature: The 9 Ethos of Medicine Box

by | May 7, 2018

e·thos | ˈēTHäs

noun: the characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its beliefs and aspirations.

The nine ethos of Medicine Box, where all things are medicine and cannabis is the medium that weaves it all together. When combined synergistically with this ethos, Medicine Box is stewarding an evolving entourage effect of a lifestyle. It is every human’s right to live a happy and healthy life while exploring their own consciousness.

(The second installment of our nature series can be found here: Nature as Medicine.)

Medicine Box in Nature

Last month the Medicine Box team explored the ethos of mindfulness as medicine. With the change of the season and planting time upon us, the month of May will be dedicated to nature as medicine. We will explore our natural surroundings and how Medicine Box is inspired by nature’s therapeutic attributes. As we continue our exploratory adventure through these medicinal ethos, we hope we inspire some of you to utilize them in your own pursuit of wellbeing.

This past weekend was planting time in our Grass Valley, CA greenhouses, or as I like to call it, “permaculturing.” (Verb: Taking action in permaculture. It’s totally a word.) We work with nature, not against it; we observe and interact. People can learn a lot by simply observing Mother Nature and the patterns that she displays.

Grass Valley is Beautiful

The black oaks that surround our region are all budding and showing the first signs of leaf sets. Sunburst orange California poppies, the state flower, and purple lupins that remind me of Prince flank the winding roads as we drive. The terpenes in the cut grass ignite the air. The beautiful harmonies of birds chirping are its radio. Bees, lizards, worms, spiders, snakes, and even mosquitoes are abundantly present like concert goers in nature’s stadium. What a perfect time to plant cannabis while enjoying therapeutic doses of natures medicine.

Take time to observe the world around you. Interact with it. Appreciate its chaotic vibrations. Breathe it in; exhale it out. It is medicine. The next time you use cannabis, remember that it plays a significant part in the greater ecosystem: cannabis is nature.

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul. -John Muir

What role does nature play in your life? How are you a part of the greater ecosystem?
